General Information

Season Dates
Winter basketball: Jan - late Feb (excluding post season play)

Age groups and Gender
5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14
Boys and girls teams are formed in all age divisions.


Age Control Date
Age as of January 1

Team Formation
Teams are formed with players based on age and gender and players returning from the previous season may stay together with the returning coach. Remaining registered players are chosen at random by head coaches to fill remaining roster slots. Roster limits are 8-9 players per team.
Note: Team Formation starts one week after the end of registration. Once team formation has ended a coach will contact all players and parents.

Practice Requirements
Practices are allowed to begin only after the coaches roster meeting has taken place Teams are allowed 2-3 practices per week for a maximum of 90 minutes each.

Game Days and Times
Games may be played on any combination of days and times during the week. Games can be played on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays with 5:30, 6:30, 7:30 game times and Saturdays starting at 10:00 am. Teams generally play 2 to 3 games per week.

Games are played at the following gyms:
Hamler Gym, Downtown Rome
Anthony Recreation Center, Garden Lakes
Fielder Recreation Center, South Rome
Gilbreth Recretion Center, Lindale

Game Participation Rule
Each team will play 8-10 games in regular season. Each child must play 1 full uninterrupted quarter of each game attending. Players must attend 50 % of the scheduled team practices the prior week for the policy to be in-effect.

Uniforms
Uniform fees are separate from registration fees. Each team will acquire their own uniforms by parent payment or local sponsors.

Awards
Player awards are provided for teams based on season standings in their divisions following the completion of league play. First and second place positions are awarded.

All-star Selection Process
All participants are eligible for all-stars. Players are nominated by their head coach and teams are formed at a head coaches meeting in mid to late Jan. Teams will compete in District and State competition under the by-laws of GRPA.
