ROME-FLOYD SPORTS HALL OF FAME GUIDELINES

CATEGORIES:

Four categories are available. Two of these are amateur and professional. A third is meritorious service, which covers persons who are not active participants in the game itself, such as volunteer officials, supporters, sportscasters, sportswriters, coaches, etc. The fourth category is lifetime achievement and honors professionals that have gone above and beyond and made outstanding contributions and given exceptional service to the community.  Nominations must be made by the general public and are received year-round.

SELECTIONS:

The Hall of Fame Committee reviews nominations and selections are presented to the Authority Board for secret ballot vote. A unanimous vote of the entire Board is required for induction. A vote against any nominee will require a written explanation.  This procedure is designed to insure confidentially and fairness to all nominees.  An annual minimum of three inductees has been established.

INDUCTION PROGRAM:

The Sports Hall of Fame Fund finances the annual program to be held in February. Funds for the annual program are generated through income from the Table Sponsor Program. Plaques will be presented to inductees and names will be inscribed on the permanent plaque housed at the Recreation Authority Headquarters. The Hall of Fame record book will reside at the Authority office.
