JOB TITLE: Parks Department Seasonal Worker
DEPARTMENT: Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority
JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the cleaning of the RFPRA Parks & Facilities.
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Performs maintenance on public facilities and parks which includes building and fence maintenance and repair, cutting grass for ball fields and lawn areas, and litter collection.
- Prepares parks and facilities for special events and sets up tables, chairs, tents, and other equipment as required.
- Assists in maintenance on facilities and grounds including painting, cleaning restrooms, maintaining tennis courts and ball fields, repairing fences, and maintaining trail and dock areas.
- Assists with special construction projects and assists in frame construction, painting, landscaping, etc.
- Operates equipment and tools to cut and trim trees, hedges, and clear grounds areas.
- Insures that equipment operates properly.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:
- Knowledge of building and grounds maintenance techniques
- Knowledge of department policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of layout of various types of athletic fields, ball field maintenance, and landscaping techniques.
- Knowledge of basic construction techniques.
- Knowledge of fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, and application techniques.
- Skill in operating tools and equipment used in parks grounds keeping and maintenance.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Skill in driving county vehicle.
COMPLEXITY: The work involves related tasks. Seasonal demands and equipment failures contribute to the complexity of the work.
SCOPE AND EFFECT: The purpose of the work is to maintain the buildings, facilities, and grounds of the Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority. Successful performance contributes to the public's enjoyment of the facilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work of this position involves standing, bending, crouching, walking, or stooping, and frequently lifting objects weighing over 25 pounds. The employee uses tools and equipment requiring dexterity and must climb ladders.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed mostly outdoors. The incumbent is exposed to dust, dirt, irritating chemicals, and grease as well as machinery and its moving parts. The use of protective devices is required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
- Possession a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.

JOB TITLE: GYMNASTICS OPERATIONS MANAGER
Agency: Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority
Starting Salary Range: $27,000 to $32,000
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for the coordination and implementation of the county-wide Gymnastics and Tumbling Program including: promotion, staff training and supervision, competitive team administration, teaching, and facility management.
Major Duties:
- Administer total Gymnastics and Tumbling Program
- Develop, promote, and manage a diversified instructional program
- Facilitate other gymnastics and tumbling activities
- Budget preparation and fiscal management
- Recruit, hire, train, and schedule instructors and coaches
- Develop and implement evaluation system of participants
- Organize volunteer advisory committee
- Prepare class curriculum, and registration information
- Oversee teams and classes
- Communicate with Parks and Recreation Administrative Office through: time sheets, monthly reports, financial reports, check requests, budget requests
- Maintains records of program participation, revenues, registration, facility usage, and facility inventory and maintenance
- Supervises revenue collection procedures, all deposits to administrative office, all monies received at the center
- Orders supplies and materials needed for program area
- Evaluates service delivery and makes recommendations for improvement, expansion or change in programming and facility maintenance
- Facility management: assure proper maintenance of the Center, check for equipment safety and building cleanliness
Desirable Knowledge and Education:
- 5 years of related experience
- Working Knowledge of competitive gymnastics
- Continuing Education through USAG and AAU clinics and workshops
- USAG Professional member
- Skill evaluations certification through USAG and AAU
- College Degree
- CPR/AED/First Aid certification
- Valid driver’s license
