Barron Stadium Renovations, April 25

The Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority is closing Barron Stadium and Maddox Track for renovations in preparation for upcoming high school and college football as well as the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Championship.  Renovations will take approximately 90 days and will include improvements to both the field and the stadium. The facilities will close starting Monday, April 21, 2008. The Authority apologizes for any inconvience and welcomes the public to visit our trails and parks pages for alternate walking trails and exercise facilities.

2006 SPLOST Update
February 20, 2007

North Floyd Park ($3 million)
Architectural RFP’s were mailed out February 9, 2007 to over (40) architects in the Southeast region and locally.  The opening of the RFP’s is scheduled for March 21, 2007.

Shannon Park ($927,000)        
Architectural RFP’s were mailed out February 9, 2007 to over (40) architects in the Southeast region and locally.  The opening of the RFP’s is scheduled for March 21, 2007.

Currently waiting on Soil & Erosion site plan for Shannon Park to complete renovation of practice baseball fields.

Sealed bids have been received for the restroom/picnic pavilion structure. RFPRA Board recommendation to be forwarded to the Floyd County Commission.

Sealed bids for the Restroom and Shelter Construction are to be mailed out on February 23, 2007 and opened on March 8, 2007.

Wolfe Park ($200,000)
Meeting have been held with Athletic Lighting Company regarding Tennis Court lights.

Sealed bids have been received for the restroom/picnic pavilion structure. RFPRA Board recommendation to be forwarded to the Floyd County Commission.

Etowah Park Tennis Courts ($100,000)
A site has been located and meetings held with Athletic Lighting Companies on lighting the new courts. Meetings have been held with Sports Surfaces International on construction specs for tennis courts. Bids for construction will be bundled with court resurfacing (county capital project) in March.

Northside Swim Center ($530,000)
Meetings regarding the slide renovation have been held with Norville Hasley of Miracle Recreation.  He is the vendor who originally installed the slide. 

Sealed bids for the cool deck and plaster are to be mailed out on February 23, 2007 and opened on March 8, 2007.

Sealed bids have been received for the 2 picnic pavilion structures. RFPRA Board recommendation to be forwarded to the Floyd County Commission.

Practice Field Renovations ($850,000)
A timeline for the renovations has been established. Renovations have begun on the two practice fields at Midway Park.

Marine Armory Renovations ($1.6 million)
No work has been completed to date. This project will be in a holding pattern until a date is set for the departure of the Marines.

10 City Tennis Courts ($500,000)
Meetings have been held with City Representatives to discus the location for these courts. No further work has been done to this point.
