Overview
The new 27,000 square foot building features a banquet room with attached chef’s kitchen, activity room, billiard area, two full size gyms and indoor/outdoor concession areas. Completing the new facility is landscaping, playground and facility furniture. The recreation center is convenient to game level ball fields, two playgrounds and a picnic pavilion.

Fitness Center Now Open
Thanks to the Heart of the Community Walk Committee, the Fitness Center room is now open to the public. The fitness center features five treadmills, one stair master, three elypticals, five spin bikes and six incument bikes.

Hours
Mon – Fri: 8:00 am – 11:00 am
Mon – Thu: 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Sat: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
Cost: $1 per visit

Thorton Center Fitness Room

The Heart of the Community Walk Committee, a subcommittee of the Heart of the Community Foundation, presented a check for $15,000 to the Citizens for Better Parks today at the Thornton Recreation Center.

Donated funds were raised through the 2011 Heart of the Community Walk and will be used to purchase exercise equipment for the Thornton Center Fitness Room. This equipment will be accessible to the public with the purpose of encouraging overall health and wellness in our community.
