The Unity Point/Legacy Plaza project was conceived to commemorate the spirit of the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta, the largest peacetime event in the history of the world, and marks Rome and Floyd County’s participation in that historic occasion. The project focuses attention on our three rivers and completes a major segment of our riverwalk system.
