Pollinator Gardens

The City of Rome became a Bee City USA in 2017.  Rome-Floyd Parks & Recreation partnered with the movement early on and turned six spaces requiring constant mowing into Pollinator Gardens and Meadows.

These spaces foster ongoing dialogue in our parks to raise awareness of the role pollinators play in our communities and what citizens can do to provide healthy habitats.

Bee City USA is a national initiative which aims to help fight colony collapse disorder and other threats to food and tree pollinators.

Additionally, the Ridge and Valley Native Plant Garden at Ridge Ferry Park is a designated stop on the Rosalynn Carter Butterfly Trail.
