Celebrate the New Year by hiking

Help ring in the New Year and start a new decade by lacing up your best walking shoes and taking part in our New Year’s Day hike at Lock and Dam Regional Park on January 1 from 10 a.m. to noon.

The interactive hike coves approximately two miles along the Coosa River and meanders through the Coosa River Nature Preserve. During the jaunt, hikers get a chance to learn about the region’s early river history, geology and identify local flora and fauna.

Be sure to bring a camera to record the scenery and the fun times. After the trek, all hikers are invited to join us at the Trading Post for hot chocolate.

There is a $5 fee collected before the hike. Weather in January can be a bit tricky so be sure to check the weather forecast and come prepared. For more information, contact us at 706.291.0785.

Lock and Dam Regional Park is located at 181 Lock and Dam Road in Rome.
