Parks and Recreation to host Georgia Arbor Day Celebration with International Paper

Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation invites everyone to Alto Park on Monday, Feb. 13 to celebrate Georgia Arbor Day with International Paper.

The celebration begins at 1 p.m. with a welcome from RFPRA Director Todd Wofford. Those in attendance have an opportunity to learn what Georgia Arbor Day is, why it is celebrated and why trees are important to the community and environment.

Thanks to Parks and Recreation’s partnership with International Paper, five maple trees were purchased and planted at Alto Park prior to the celebration.

“We are thankful for the partnership we have with International Paper. With the help of their yearly donations, we are able to plant and restore trees throughout our county parks,” Todd Wofford says.
