It’s almost time for the most fun, foamy, frolicking and festive road race and walk in all of Northwest Georgia, as the 2022 Leprechaun-a-thon 5K and Health Walk presented by BODYARMOR is set to hit the streets and trails of Downtown Rome on Saturday evening, March 19.
Race day registration and race day packet pick up begins at 5 p.m. at the tents at Bridge Point Plaza. Everyone is encouraged to pick up their race packets on Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 1 Shorter Avenue.
One note is that parking is at a premium but there are several lots and parking decks in downtown and near both the race start and race finish. Some parking spots in the downtown area are reserved for certain businesses, so please be mindful.
Race day registration for the 5K and the health walk is $40. Both race day registration and race day packet pick up ends at 7 p.m.
There will be glow necklaces and bracelets available at Bridge Point Plaza, we do encourage everyone to come decked out in all their best green, glowing goodness.
The costume contest begins at 7:05 p.m. at Bridge Point Plaza. We will make a first call for all three divisions and then gather all participants to allow our judges time to see all of the festive attire. The contest has three divisions:
1. Littlest Leprechaun for children ages 5 and under
2. Most festive Leprechaun for kids and adults of all ages
3. Best Leprechaun group for kids and adults of all ages
First call for the 5K will be at 7:15 p.m. and the runners will then move to the starting line on First Avenue. The 5K is set to start at 7:30 p.m. Once the 5K starts, we will call for the walkers to move to First Avenue with the walk starting at approximately 7:45 p.m.
The race finishes on the pedestrian bridge heading to the Town Green. We do ask all spectators to stay off of the bridge to help ease traffic for the more than 500 runners and walkers set to participate. Our infamous foam will be back on the Town Green along with lights and music for a fun time before the awards ceremony which is set to begin at approximately 8:30 p.m.
