Lifeguards

Address:

501 Kingston Ave NE.

Rome, GA 30161

May 15 to Aug. 6 (dates and days worked are flexible)

Red Cross Lifeguard Certification cost covered.

Pay is $12.50 an hour

Lifeguard certification involves three to four days of training. The applicant needs to be able to tread water without using their hands for timeout, complete a timed weighted block swim and complete a timed 400 meter swim as well as pass classroom instruction.

Duties will include lifeguarding, helping with swim lessons, helping manage schedules and all pool functions.

Come spend the summer working outside at a pool and get hands-on training into running and maintaining a facility as well as experience supervising all the day-to-day operational needs of a city and county facility.

Duties will include interaction with guests, lifeguarding at multiple spots on and around the pool deck and water slide, helping coordinate the concession stand and workers as well as the admissions deck and workers. Other duties may include helping to market the facility through traditional and non-traditional methods and helping plan special events for the facility.

The Northside Swim Center is the only non-member swimming pool in the city of Rome. It operates from late May until early August with daily swimming hours, swim lessons and evening rentals. This internship allows college students the chance to take a hands-on role in all facets of running the facility.

Warning: While this job does include the chance to get a tan and soak up lots of sun, it is very demanding and requires a high-level work ethic as well as attention to detail.
