District 5 Basketball Tournaments Come to Rome

Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation is playing host to three District 5 Basketball Tournaments, starting this Friday, Feb. 21. Teams from Rome and surrounding counties will be battling for a chance to reach the Georgia Recreation and Park Association state basketball tournaments.


The 8U girls and boys tournaments start on Friday, Feb. 21. The girls’ tournament will play all games at Gilbreath Center. The Rome team opens play in the event at 7:15, facing the Bartow team.




The 8U boys tournament starts on Friday, Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. as the Rome-Floyd Team 2 takes on Powder Springs at the Anthony Center at 6 p.m. All games in the boys’ tournament are played at the Anthony Center. The Rome-Floyd Team 1 opens play Saturday morning at 10 against Smyrna.



The 12U Girls Tournament tips-off on Saturday at the Gilbreath Center. The Rome-Floyd team opens play Saturday at 11:30. All games in the girls’ tournament are played at the Gilbreath Center.



Admission to the games is $5 for adults, $2 for students 17 and under, $2 for seniors age 55 and over and free for children age six and under. Full concessions stands will be open.
