POWERADE Power Dash Ready to Run

The POWERADE Power Dash 5K and Health Walk is almost ready to hit the trails around Ridge Ferry Park. The race and walk marks the first in-person 5K in Rome since March.

The event is set for Saturday, Oct. 17 at Ridge Ferry Park. The waves for the health walk begin at 9 a.m. with the waves for the 5K set to begin at 1:30 p.m. Wave times are assigned by participants’ last name and can be found at rfpra.com/powerdash. Maps of both the 5K and the health walk course are also available at the site.

If participants need to change times, please email Jim Alred at alredj@flouydcountyga.org.

Packet pick up for the race starts Tuesday, Oct. 13 from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation headquarters at 1 Shorter Avenue. Tuesday and Wednesday packet pick up is for groups, with Thursday and Friday open for everyone to pick up their packets.

Those people who registered for the Leprechaun-a-thon in March but haven’t picked up their shirt or requested a refund can pick up their Leprechaun shirts as well.

All participants are asked to arrive 20 minutes before their wave time on Satruday. They will be directed to areas allowing for social distancing while waiting. All participants are also encouraged to wear their disposable mask provided in their race packet before starting the race or walk. There will be several trash cans near the start line to dispose of masks before entering the course.

A couple of quick reminders about the race. There is no race-day packet pick up or race-day registration. There are no water stops on the walk or 5K course, so if participants need water they will need to bring it. There will be both water and POWERADE available near the Coca-Cola Stage postrace.

There will be no post-race awards ceremony for the run. Race results will be posted Sunday afternoon, Oct. 18 and race awards will be available for pick up at RFPRA headquarters starting Tuesday, Oct. 20.
