ROME, GA (February 2026) — Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation (RFPRA) is proud to recognize Parks Division Manager John Davis for completing 15 years of service with Parks and Recreation and completing Year 2 of the National Recreation and Park Association’s (NRPA) Maintenance Management School this January. The two-year professional development program equips parks and recreation professionals from across the country with advanced training in maintenance operations, asset management, safety, and community engagement. Park and Recreation Maintenance Management School is a partnership between the National Recreation & Park Association, the National Training Center at Oglebay, and North Carolina State University.
John first attended the school in 2024, marking the start of an important professional journey focused on enhancing the quality and sustainability of Rome and Floyd County’s parks. The NRPA program teaches proactive maintenance techniques and data-driven management strategies designed to extend the life of public facilities while improving safety and accessibility for the community.

Year one of the school helps identify and recognize effective professional techniques of maintenance management. The curriculum is directed at improving the attendee’s professional maintenance management practices. John recently completed year two of the maintenance management school where he acquired a broader knowledge of maintenance management and further developed specific skills for effective operations.
“This experience has expanded my understanding of how to care for our parks in a way that benefits everyone,” Davis said. “It’s about being strategic and ensuring that our facilities and parks remain safe, welcoming, and well-maintained for years to come.”
In addition to his recent accomplishment, John is celebrating 15 years of service with Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation, having joined the department in December 2009. Over his career, he has played a key role in maintaining local parks and facilities, supporting community events, and ensuring youth programs thrive.
His favorite part of working with RFPRA, he says, is “being around our community events and serving the youth in our community.”
RFPRA Director, Todd Wofford, praised John’s dedication and leadership: “John’s ongoing professional development and commitment to excellence set a great example for our entire department. His work helps make our parks safer, our facilities better maintained, and our community stronger.”
Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation congratulates John Davis for his professional accomplishments and his 15 years of outstanding service to the Rome and Floyd County community.
