The Rome 8U Girls all-star softball team finished as the District 5 Tournament Runner-up on Tuesday, June 13 in Gordon County. The squad started the tournament with a 14-13 win over Calhoun before topping Trion 20-12.
Rome then fell to Bartow 27-6 dropping into the loser’s bracket of the double-elimination tournament. Rome then topped Summerville 24-8 to reach the finals and earn a rematch against Bartow. In that game, Bartow won 20-9 to earn the title with Rome finishing as tournament runner-up.
Rome now advances to the GRPA State Class A/B Softball Tournament in Gordon County. Rome is set to start play in the double-elimination tournament on Tuesday, June 20 when they face off against Carrol County at 6:30 p.m.
